Organization The Organization The Utah Aircraft Engineering Organization (UAEO) “provides war-winning expeditionary capabilities to the warfighter through world-class logistics, support, maintenance, distribution and engineering management for actively flying, mature and proven weapon systems. It is one of three complexes assigned to the Air Force Sustainment Center.” (HAFB, 2016) History and Background In 1934 Utah and military leaders concluded that Utah was a good area for a permanent air depot. In 1935 Congress approved the plans, and in 1940, the first construction began. On 7 November 1940, Colonel Brosnan, the first commanding officer, began his four-year duty tour, marking the logistics and maintenance unit’s formal activation. UAEO snowballed to its full strength during World War II while providing vital repairs and support for various wartime missions.
