Who composes the members of the PTBC? 2603 - One PT involved in PT education (the only one
that can be full-time faculty), 3 licensed PTs that have been practicing PT for 5 years, 3 public
members who are not licensed by the PTBC or any other Medical Board of CA
What is the term of the board members? When does this term expire? 2604 - Term is 4 years,
expires on June 1st each year
Who appoints the board members? 2604 - The Governor appoints one public member and the 4
PTs. The Senate Rules Committee and the Speaker of the Assembly both appoint 1 public member
each
How long can a member serve for the board? 2604 - No more than 2 consecutive terms
Who is president of the board? 2604 - The members elect one of the members to act as president.
This occurs annually
Who can remove members of the board, and under what circumstances? 2604 - The appointing
power has the ability to remove members for neglect of duties required by law OR for
unprofessional/dishonorable conduct
