D185 Designing Curriculum and Instruction II Task 4 (Supporting Curriculum Implementation) Western Governors University
1a. Overview
The curriculum I plan to implement is iReady Classroom Math. iReady Classroom Math is a
year-long curriculum that provides daily scripted lessons. This curriculum provides workbooks,
teacher manuals, online portals for teacher and students, differentiated lessons, online games,
adaptive lessons, etc. iReady is composed of 2 parts. Personalized learning and the Diagnostic. The
Diagnostic is an adaptive assessment that adjusts its questions to suit your students needs.
Personalized Instructions are lessons assigned to students at their specific level so students can
learn at their own pace. The mission statement fond on their website is “i-Ready integrates powerful
assessments with engaging instruction to help all students grow and succeed.” (Curriculum
Associates 2019).
2a. Rationale
The district is in need of differentiation for students. We are seeing a large spread of student levels
throughout the whole school district grades K-8. Many students with gaping holes. Teachers are
struggling with meeting each student at their specific level due to this large gap in knowledge. The
iReady Math curriculum will give teachers the resources they need to support their students
appropriately because iReady provides differentiated lessons for below grade level, on grade level
and advanced. They also provide adaptive learning opportunities tailored to each student that can be
accessed in their own portal. By implementing the iReady math curriculum, students will be given
lessons at their level and be able to bridge the gap in math concepts they are missing.
2b. Expected Outcome
The overall expected outcome from the implementation of the iReady curriculum is to allow students
to receive differentiated instruction and fill in the missing gaps that they may have. In filling the gaps
it will allow students to understand their current grade level content and score higher on
standardized testing.
2c. Outline
Pilot the program: April 1st - April 30th 2023
Curriculum Team meets and decides implementation date: May - June 2023
Teachers Receive professional development and training on curriculum: June - August 2023
Teachers will implement curriculum throughout their daily lessons August 2023 - June 2024
Curriculum team meets and reviews data from the year to determine if it was successful June-July
2024
2d. Key Roles and Responsibilities
The role of the teachers would be to implement the curriculum in their daily lessons. They would also
need to record data and provide feedback for the curriculum team. The curriculum team will then
analyze the data and support teachers when needed. They will also ensure all teachers are
implementing the curriculum in their classrooms regularly. The administrators at the school will
provide the school with a curriculum team along with any resources they might need.
2e. Resources and Technology
Resources needed to implement this curriculum would be workbooks for each student, math
manipulatives kit, and teacher manuals. Chromebooks and internet access along with online access
for students and teachers.
