Problem Statement
Gemma Jones is a 2yo female without any significant medical history who presents with new onset rash on her abdomen today that has since worsened spreading to all extremities. She recently had a nonproductive cough, runny nose, and fever (103). The fever resolved yesterday. Intake and output have been normal.
Differentials
Exanthema subitem (Roseola)- Lead diagnosis, MNM Human parvovirus 19- Related, alt diagnosis, MNM Measles- Related, alt diagnosis, MNM
Rubella- Related, alt diagnosis, MNM URI- Related, alt diagnosis, MNM Testing
No testing is necessary. Can test IgM for all except URI and chest xray for URI but none are necessary.
Symptoms alone support diagnosis of Roseola
Plan
Reassurance that rash will resolve on its own in a few days Rest and hydration
Full recovery in approximately a week
