Risk Management and Human Resource Plan Nicole Riddick Chamberlain University Dr. Julian Running head: RISK MANAGEMENT AND HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT PLAN 2 Risk Management Effective risk management is necessary for project development (Carvalho and Rabechini Junior, 2015). According to Carvalho and Rabechini Junior (2015), it allows for individuals to be able to identify the projects strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities. This paper will serve to explain risk management and the human resource management plan that organizations can put in place when implementing process change through the implementation of project malmanagement skills. This paper will also explore the risks associated with poor hand hygiene and how it relates to increased hospital acquired infections through the use of the risk register and the RACI (responsibility, Accountable, Consulted, and Informed) chart for the project. Risks Register The risk register project tool is used in project development and management identifying the possible risks that could become present throughout the implementation of a project (Olechowski, Oehmen, Seering, and Ben-Daya, 2016). The risk register tool is convenient in the sense that it complies with regulatory compliance to risk management and it ensures that the project remains up to date with the possible risks that can be associated with the project and therefore identifies negative effects that could cause the projects expected outcomes to change. There are always risk categories that come associated with the risk register. Some of the risks in which to look for are the peoples risks which includes the delays that could be associated with the project, such as approvals that take place when project implementation is triggered, conflicts, and low levels of understanding about what the project may entail. Risks should always be identified and an alternate plan should be implemented. For example, the development of alternate project proposal and the education to stakeholders. Another risk is the ability to change the budget and increase the budget. The budget is almost always underestimated and triggered by Running head: RISK MANAGEMENT AND HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT PLAN 3 lack of financial and cost management skills. Strategies to change this include being able to include skilled financial and cost management personnel, because otherwise one is risking delays in project implementation and reduction in the actual quality of the project design. RACI Matrix According to Aven (2016), the RACI matrix is a chart showing the responsibilities for each project task that is identified and discussed, the key decision, or the milestone involved in order to have a project completion. It has assignments listing which individual is responsible for each action item on the list, which personnel is responsible, and the induvial that would otherwise need to be consulted or confirmed (Aven, 2016). The main activities of the project are outlined as such: project proposal, project charter, project scope, literature review, communication plan, deliverables and CSF, work breakdown structure (WBS), Gantt chart, risk and RACI chart, and project report. It describes who is responsible, accountable, consulted, and informed among the 2 South, 3 West, 3 South, and ICU managers. Conclusion The implementation of the project is better served when there is clear understanding of expectations and that certain elements are not controllable and cannot be planned for. The project manager needs to be able to identify these risks and should be able to feel comfortable handing the potential risks. The risk matrix has identified the project’s risk while the RACI chart as identified how activities and tasks are distributed across team members.
