When can you practice when going from inactive to active?
you must have WRITTEN verification that you have been placed on the active list
If you have been inactive for 3 or more years and not practiced in another state, which requirements do
you need to meet active status?
you may have to successfully complete a clinical assessment prior to being granted active status, this is
determined case by case by the board
how often are the clinical assessments administered?
a minimum of twice a year.
during annual licensure examinations and typically at the UMMC school of dentistry.
however it could also be elsewhere at the discretion of the board
How many days do you have to provide an employer when going from inactive to active?
60 days. if you do not provide MS dental employment information to the board in 60 days, you will return
to inactive
How do I change from inactive to active?
make a written request to the board.
supply the appropriate proof of continuing education and certification in CPR within the 12 month period
prior to requesting active status.
Do radiology permit holders have to request active status?
yes
radiology permit holders DO NOT need to submit the documentation required for dentists and dental
hygienists to return to active status. Radiology permit holders simply need to submit a written request
providing the name(s) and address(es) of the Mississippi dentist(s) for whom they will be working.
If I am a contract worker for the military and work outside the State of Mississippi, do I remain on active
status?
No. Licensees working as contract workers for the military are NOT considered as "active duty" military
personnel; as such, they are listed on inactive status while they are practicing outside of the State of
Mississippi.

No. a licensed specialist must indicate the ADA recognized speciality in any advertisement wherein

service being offered in the advertisement.
No additional fees may be charged unless the advertisement includes the following disclaimer "additional
fees may be incurred in individual cases"
what is a corporate/trade name
when the facilitys name is not the full name and degree of the dentist owning or working in the facility.

all trade names must be registered with and approved by the board, the board must be provided the full
names of all dentists employed by or owning the facility.
what is an enteral conscious sedation permit
a permit for conscious sedation that is achieved by administration of pharm agents through the alimentary
tract either orally or rectally
Is advanced cardiac life support required for an enteral conscious sedation patient?
yes. an applicant applying for any kind of MS anesthesia permit is required to produce evidence of a
current ACLS certificate
Pediatic advanced life support or a certification from a board approved course may also be used to fulfill
the acls requirement
Is the course offered by the dental organization for conscious sedation considered as an approved course
to fulfill the requirements for an enteral consciousness sedation permit

Does my staff require additional training for me to hold an enteral conscious sedation permit
yes. all dental auxiliaries having direct patient care responsibilities are required to be current in CPR at all
times. also should be trained to assist the dentist with procedures, problems, and emergencies
